Fire and Instrument Services was responsible for the design, installation and integration of the essential electronic services throughout the Research Base of the South African National Antarctic Programme on Marion Island. Systems installed on the island include fire detection, a nurse call system, fuel tank level monitoring, public address system, hydrogen level monitoring in the weather balloon gas generation plant and temperature sensing.
All these diverse systems are brought together under the centralised monitoring and control of the MB1 platform. iBMS is a technologically advanced, hardware, platform-independent, central monitoring and control solution allowing for the integration of many different hardware systems into a single point of access achieving central and remote control. The iBMS system is proudly developed in South Africa by Scansoft Technologies and can easily be adapted and updated to suit the varying needs of our clients.
